The Embassy of Colombia in Canberra has a section on consular affairs serving their citizens residing in the states of Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania. Serving the public at the offices of the Consulate will be by appointment so that their compatriots residing outside Canberra can better plan their trip to that city.

The consular services in the Colombian Embassy include civil registration, certifications, recognition of private document signature, issuing visas, citizenship cards, passports and etc.
When collecting a passport the holder must attend personally with his original identity document and the voucher of the respective payment. In the event of loss or theft of a passport, the applicant need only report this, under oath, to the issuing office.
Passport holders will have a maximum of six months in which to claim their passport after it has been issued. If it is not claimed within this term, it will be annulled and the applicant will have to request and pay for a new passport.
One can pay for the passport at the office where the procedure is being carried out, at the bank or by the electronic media established for the purpose. However one should note that the application for a passport must be formalized, before the payment is made. Issue of passports is subject to the respective payment.
Citizens abroad who require the authentication of signatures and copies of documents must request this procedure at the Colombian Consulate in Canberra. Authentication of signatures on public documents is only necessary in countries which are not signatories of the Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Documents or Apostilles and, for the purpose, must meet the following:
- The original document to be authenticated must be presented for the authentication of signatures. (Only in countries which are not signatories of the Apostille Convention.
- The original document and the copy to be authenticated must be presented for the authentication of copies of documents.
