In case of lost or stolen Mexican passport abroad, it should be immediately reported to the competent authority. Report about the loss, theft of the passport will be required when applying for an emergency passport at the Mexican Embassy.

Citizens of Belgium and Luxembourg do not need a visa to travel to Mexico if they stay in the country no longer than 180 days as a visitor (Visitante). This status allows them to undertake, among others, the following activities: tourism, studying, unpaid professional internships, business, technical assistance paid from abroad, etc., but this condition does not grant them permission to perform a paid activity or any activity in which they will earn a salary, wage, or commission.

They must provide immigration services with the following documents:

  • Valid passport or other approved identification document under the international law.
  • FMM form duly completed (this form is given in the plane or at the point of entry to Mexico).
  • The immigration authority may require a person to explain the motives of his/her trip. Likewise, the immigration authority may request a person to produce one of the following documents:
  • a) Hotel reservation, return ticket (route), tour tickets (route).
  • b) Certificate of service in Spanish issued by the parent company, subsidiary or foreign subsidiary stating that the foreigner is employed and will be paid for the services provided in Mexico by that company.
  • c) Copy of the technology transfer agreement, patents and trademarks, of the bill of sale of machinery and equipment, of the personnel technical training contract, or any other contract related to the production process of a company based in Mexico or binding the foreign part to the Mexican part, or proof of appointment by the shareholders of companies legally established in Mexico.
  • d) Letter of the organization or public or private institution inviting the foreigner to participate in unpaid activities in Mexico, mentioning the purpose of the visit and the estimated duration of stay. If the organization or institution bears the foreigner’s travel expenses in Mexico, this should be mentioned in an attached letter of commitment.
  • e) Letter of invitation or admission from any institution belonging to the National Education System for courses, studies or research projects or training no longer than 180 days.
