All Norwegian passports are issued through an 11-digit personal identification number. Those who do not have a personal number must apply for one through the Embassy before he/she can apply for a passport.

The application for a personal number and passport are to be submitted simultaneously for children under 12 years of age. Please contact the Embassy to verify personal number and to set up a passport appointment.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy cannot authenticate a document on behalf of a Norwegian Authority but can only legalize documents in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in Ottawa. Therefore, documents must be legalized through the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in Ottawa. This procedure departs from the fact that Canadian documents must be authenticated in Canada and Canada is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Conventio

I The Embassy’s translation fee is CAD 38 per document - payment is accepted as money order or certified bank checks.
