Consular services to Norwegians in Czech Republic, as well as to foreigners who want to visit Norway, are a core activity for this Embassy. They also focus on creating better informed awareness and overall branding of Norway. This involves strong emphasis of cultural exchange in the Embassy’s overall exercise of public diplomacy. The task is to serve as a proactive catalyst to further strengthen and widen the cultural co-operation between Norway and Czech Republic. There is a continuous exchange of musicians, theatre plays, exhibitions, etc., as well as close contacts between cultural institutions of the two countries.

The Embassy's Consular Section gives advice and assistance in matters such as issuing passports, granting visas and in legal matters regarding marriage, divorce, inheritance, pensions, social security and paternity cases.

Travellers holding an EU, EEA or Schengen passport do not need a visa to enter Norway. Citizens of other countries may need one.

Foreign nationals who are to work in Norway will in many cases need to have a residence permit, even for stays of less than 90 days. The documents you are required to provide in connection with an application may vary from place to place. It is therefore important that you check with the diplomatic or consular mission that is to process your application whether or not there are any additional requirements than those listed by the Directorate of Immigration.

The applicant must arrive at the diplomatic or consular mission with all documents at the agreed time. If you do not have everything with you, you might have to book a new appointment for submitting your application and the documents. Incomplete applications could be rejected. The diplomatic or consular mission will notify you once your application has been processed.

Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given  on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.

All passports for adults and children over 12 must be applied for in person at the Norwegian Embassy in Prague. In order to apply for a Norwegian passport you need to have a Norwegian personal number (ID number). If you do not have a personal number, you must apply for this before lodging a passport application.
