The Embassy provides these consular services:

• Notary services (verification of signatures, confirmation of transcripts, legalization of documents);
• Issuance of residence permits and visas;
• Issuance of Norwegian passports or temporary travel documents to return to Norway;
• Assistance to Norwegian citizens abroad.

All fees for consular services must be paid in cash and in Lithuanian currency - Litas.

In case of a lost or stolen passport, Norwegian citizens must report the loss/theft to the nearest Lithuanian police station and receive a police notice of the loss/theft. Persons can then apply for a new passport which is issued in approximately 2 weeks or obtain a temporary travel document if they can't wait for that long.

Nationals of certain countries need a visa in order to visit Norway for up to 90 days. All foreign nationals who are to stay in Norway for more than 90 days must have a residence permit. Foreign nationals who are to work in Norway will in many cases need to have a residence permit, even for stays of less than 90 days. Foreign nationals who are required to have a visa are also obliged to have travel medical insurance. Some people can visit Norway without a visa, but most people from countries outside the EU/EEA must apply for a visitor's visa. Citizens of Lithuania do not need a visa to visit Norway for up to 90 days.

The Norwegian Embassy in Vilnius is closed on weekends and Norwegian and Lithuanian holidays.
