The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Austria provides these consular services:

• Assistance and issuance of visas;
• Assistance in matters of citizenship and issuance of passports;
• Notary services;
• Issuance of permits for temporary residence in the Russian Federation;
• Assistance for Russian citizens living abroad and willing to relocate to the Russian Federation.
• Deals with matters related to acceptance, renunciation of Russian citizenship;
• Issues civil status certificates (birth, marriage, dissolution of marriage, adoption, establishment of paternity, change of name, surname, death);
• Provides legalization, apostille services;
• Registers Russian citizens living abroad;
• Deals with matters related to social benefits (pensions);
• Procures personal documents from Russia.

In case of lost Russian passport, the Embassy may issue a certificate of return to the Russian Federation. Citizen must report loss of the Russian passport to local police and receive a notification about the fact of lost passport which will later be needed along with other documents to obtain a certificate of return to the Russian Federation.

Citizens of the Russian Federation outside the Russia shall have the right to register with the diplomatic mission or consular post.

Foreign registration of Russian citizens is purely voluntary and is carried out at the request of the person, regardless of the purpose and duration of stay.
