Starting from 9 January 2014 visa applications will be accepted only after beforehand reservation. A person who applies for visa must be present in Consular section. Visa application forms filled in by hand are not accepted from October 1, 2013. The Embassy establishes electronic visa applications system as of September 30, 2013.

The following documents should be submitted in order to obtain a visa regardless of its category:

  • Fully completed visa application form.
  • Valid national passport.
  • One recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Travel insurance valid in Russia.

To apply for a tourist visa an applicant should also submit:

Standard tourist confirmation (visa support letter). The confirmation must contain a full name of an Applicant, the date of his/her birth, a passport number, the dates of entry/departure, the itinerary, the agency's reference and registration number, the official seal and the signature of an authorized person.

Tourist voucher, indicating a full name of an Applicant, the date of his/her birth, a passport number, the dates of entry and departure, the name of the hosting Russian tourist company and confirming the full payment for the accommodation in Russia.

Tourist visa can be issued for no longer than 30 days. The fee for processing an application for tourist visa for the citizens of Norway as well as other EU Member states is 315 NOK for 4-10 working days. An urgent visa can be issued in 1-3 working days and charged with the fee of 630 NOK.

Citizens of Norway and the member states of EU who hold valid diplomatic passports have the right to enter the Russian Federation without visa.

Russian national holidays are January 1-5, January 7, February 23, March 8, May 1, May 9, June 12 and November 4. If the holiday date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday will be a day off.
