In case of emergency Russian nationals can call the Embassy’s specially allocated phone line +44 (0) 7721 337 434, in addition to other means of communication. This line is open 24/7 and is for emergencies only.

NOTE: the notary section of the Consular Division can process only two notarial documents during one appointment. Should one have three or more documents to issue, the person has to book an additional appointment, preferably for the time slot following the initial appointment.

To meet the increasing demand, while maintaining high standards of service, the Embassy of the Russian Federation has outsourced its Visa Application Processing to M/S VF Services (UK) Ltd. This service is available to all nationals residing in the UK who wish to apply for a Russian visa. All applications may be submitted without a prior appointment. This new procedure will not only avoid queuing and waiting lists but will also focus on delivering the visas within a very short time.

Important Notice: VF Services (UK) Limited will be responsible only for accepting and processing applications. All applications will continue to be assessed by the Embassy of the Russian Federation, London. Timelines and turnaround of visas are as per the discretion of the authority.

To make the British document valid in Russia:

  • The applicant has to send the original document for Apostille (Legalization Department of the British MFA).
  • The document together with Apostille should be translated into Russian.
  • Then the applicant has to bring these documents to the Consulate to confirm the proper translation into Russian.

For those, who do not speak Russian, the process it:

  • The applicant should double check the text of the document with the person in Russia, whether they accept it or not.
  • The applicant should bring it to the British notary arid sign it there. The notary confirms the signature.
  • The applicant should send the document for Apostille (Legalization Department of the British MFA).

  • Then the applicant must bring these documents to the Consulate to confirm the proper translation into Russian.
  • For all issues of notary public prior appointment is necessary.

The Embassy is closed on the following holidays:

  • 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 January — New Year Holidays;
  • 7 January — Christmas, Russian Orthodox;
  • 23 February — Defender of Motherland Day;
  • 8 March — International Women’s Day;
  • 1 May — Spring and Labor Day;
  • 9 May — Victory Day (Over German Nazism in the WW2);
  • 12 June — Day of Russia;
  • 4 November — Day of the National Unity.
