The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Prague represents the Republic of Slovenia in the Czech Republic and protects and implements the interests of the Republic of Slovenia, its citizens and legal entities in the Czech Republic.  Furthermore, it fosters and helps develop friendly relations and cooperation between the Republic of Slovenia and the Czech Republic.  The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Prague also serves to inform the authorities, institutions, media and general public in the Czech Republic of the achievements, activities and positions of the Republic of Slovenia. In addition, the Embassy reports to the Slovenian Foreign Ministry and thereby to other national authorities on the internal and foreign policy situation in the Czech Republic.

On August 28, 2006, the Republic of Slovenia started issuing biometric passports in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 2252/2004, which, beside biometry of the facial image, includes also the biometry of two fingerprints.

All citizens who hold a valid passport issued after March 1, 2001, can use their passport until the date of expiry and are not required to exchange their passports for a new one.

Application for Passport may be filed at an administrative unit in Slovenia or at a diplomatic-consular representation of the Republic of Slovenia abroad. Citizens must apply in person, since in the process his or her identification and compliance of the attached photograph with the actual appearance is noted, and his or her signature is required. Moreover, two fingerprints of citizen older than 12 years will be taken.

Holders of an EEA (EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Swiss passport do not require a visa. Nationals from EU-countries as well as Switzerland and Liechtenstein may stay for an unlimited time. Holders of Czech Passports (European Union) do not need a visa for Slovenia. There are no restrictions on the remaining validity of ones passport, providing the traveler leaves Italy before its expiry date.
