Consulates headed by honorary consuls are not authorised to provide consular services such as receiving visa and residence permit applications, authentications, etc. They are not authorised to issue return passports, but they can be of assistance in serving travel documents on applicants. Slovenian citizens who need emergency consular assistance should thus contact the Embassy in Ankara.

The embassy, located in Ankara, is accredited to the Republic of Turkey, and additionally serves as non-resident embassy for the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Basic information about traveling in the country of accreditation;
• Slovenian citizenship;
• Passport services;
• Issuing identity cards;
• Assistance to Slovenian citizens who lost their documents and money;
• Change of residence or stay;
• Visa information;
• Marriage.

A national of Turkey who wishes to enter and reside in the Republic of Slovenia for the purposes of a tourist, business, personal or other type of visit should obtain a visa at a diplomatic mission or consular post of the Republic of Slovenia prior to his/her entering the country. 

Supporting documents for a tourist visa should provide evidence of the following:

• the purpose of the intended journey;
• proof of accommodation, or proof of sufficient funds to cover the applicant's accommodation;
• that the applicant possesses sufficient funds both for the duration of the intended stay and for the return to his/her country of origin or residence, or for transit to a third country to which they are certain to be admitted, or that they are in a position to acquire such means lawfully;
• information enabling an assessment of the applicant's intention to leave the territory of the EU Member States before the expiry of the visa applied for;
• documents relating to accommodation;
• documents relating to itinerary.
