In 2013, Korea and Ireland celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Since 1983, the ties between the Republic of Korea and Ireland have grown remarkably and to the mutual satisfaction of both countries. This Embassy endeavors to further strengthen the close traditional ties between Korea and Ireland. At the same time, it will make every effort to protect and render service to Korean citizens who live, pay a visit to, and have interest in Ireland.

The Administrative and Consular Section deals with all matters related to passports, visa and judicial affairs and also all administrative matters concerning the Embassy.

Visa Applications take place on 9.00 – 12.00, 13.30 – 17.00 (Monday to Friday)(Closed : Saturday, Sunday , Irish Public Holiday, Korean National Holiday (1st Mar, 15th Aug, 3rd Oct, 9th Oct))

Irish passport holders can enter Korea without a visa as long as the purpose of their visit is tourism or temporary visit up to 90 days. If they want to engage in profitable activities such as employment, they must apply for a Korean visa suitable for their purpose.

  • One should apply for visa in person.
  • If you are not an Irish National, you must hold a residential visa in Ireland to apply for a visa.
  • Visa processing requires 5 working days including date of application. (not including National Holiday)
  • Please provide a registered envelope with your application if you would like your passport returned by post.
  • Please note, if you have any criminal history or medical history, you may need to interview.
  • Visa is not valid unless you enter Korea within 3months of date of issue. (Except working holiday visa)The Embassy of Republic of Korea do not issue or provide regarding apostille for Irish Nationals.
  • We will not return documents required for Visa applications.

Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given  on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.
