Student Visa for Singapore
Foreigners pursuing their full-time studies in Singapore must apply for a Student visa (Student's Pass).

Eligibility
A foreigner is required to apply for a Student's Pass if he/she has been accepted by an educational institution to pursue full-time studies in Singapore, unless he/she is a:

  1. Dependant's Pass holder studying in a Government/Government-Aided/Independent school/Foreign System School/Kindergarten/Childcare Centre registered with MSF;
  2. Immigration Exemption Order holder; or
  3. Visitor who has been granted a short term Visit Pass at the Singapore Checkpoint and wish to attend a short course that can be completed within the validity of the initial Visit Pass granted to him/her at the Singapore Checkpoint or 30 days, whichever is shorter. The course must:
  • be a complete module and stand-alone module of its own. Courses with multiple programme modules are excluded from this Student's Pass exemption scheme; and
  • not involve hands-on practical occupational training and/or industrial attachment which have interaction with walk-in customers or be conducted at premises that are also places of business, e.g. hair salons and beauty salons.

Visa requirements and application
Depending on the type of educational institution that a foreigner is intending to study at, the requirements and procedures for applying for a Student's Pass will differ. To find out what documentation is required for different educational institutions, you should check with Singapore Government, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority website. 

New applications are to be submitted via the Student’s Pass OnLine Application & Registration+ (SOLAR+) system.

New applications when intending to study at Approved Private Education Organizations or Kindergarten/Childcare Centre registered with MSF are to be submitted at least 2 months and not more than 6 months from the course commencement date.

New applications when intending to study at Foreign System Schools, Institutes of Technical Education or Government/Government-Aided/Independent Schools must be submitted at least one month before the commencement of the course.

New applications when intending to study at Polytechnics and Universities must be submitted at least one month and not more than 2 months before the commencement of the course.

Visa processing time
Processing time is usually 5-10 working days. Some applications may take a longer time to process.
