Conveniently situated in Atlanta, GA., Le Fashion Lab is a fashion design school providing a range of quality fashion design classes and workshops, including Patternmaking, Sewing, Fashion Illustration and Garment Construction. We currently offer 3 Fashion Design & Garment Construction Programs: 1-yr Daytime Program; 2-yr Evening or Weekend Program; and a 13-week PREP Program.

Beginning Patternmaking I

Course Duration: 20 hours - 8 sessions, 2.5 hours each. Prerequisites: Introduction to Sewing, Intermediate Sewing, Advanced Sewing
This class is ideal for students who can sew well, and are ready to move on to creating garments to fit specific clients.

Gain a thorough understanding of patternmaking and how to read patterns by learning to create a variety of flat patterns “from scratch” including the basic bodice (used for various shirts and blouses), basic torso (used for dresses), and the basic skirt (used for various skirt designs).

Students also learn all about dart manipulations, and how to change the location of darts depending on your design needs. This class is ideal for students who can sew well, and are ready to move on to creating garments to fit specific clients.

Beginning Patternmaking II
Course Duration: 20 hours - 8 sessions, 2.5 hours each. Prerequisites: Introduction to Sewing, Intermediate Sewing, Advanced Sewing, Beginning Patternmaking I

This class continues building on your patternmaking skills by teaching you how to make patterns for basic pants, sleeve, and shirt collar.

The class is focused on continued practice to enable you to create patterns on your own outside of class, without the step-by-step guidance of the instructor.

Beginning Patternmaking III
Course Duration: 8 sessions
Now that you’ve gotten adequate training in the basic patterns, it’s time to add some fun. While this class is a continuation of patternmaking techniques learned in Beginning Patternmaking I and II, we mix it up by adding variations to the basic patterns you’ve already created. This class continues to focus on making you a self-sufficient patternmaker beyond the basic patterns.

Intermediate Patternmaking I
Course Duration: 4 sessions, 2.5 hours each. Prerequisites: Introduction to Sewing, Intermediate Sewing, Advanced Sewing, Beginning Patternmaking
Building on the skills you learned in Beginning Patternmaking, we invite a model to class and, not only do you learn to take measurements, but you also use her measurements to create a long sleeve classic princess line dress to fit her. This class teaches how to take measurements, how to make patterns using these measurements, and how to alter/adjust patterns to ensure your garment fits perfectly.

Intermediate Patternmaking II
Course Duration: 20 hours - 8 sessions, 2.5 hours each. Prerequisites: Introduction to Sewing, Intermediate Sewing, Advanced Sewing, Beginning Patternmaking, Intermediate Patternmaking I
Building on the skills you learned in Beginning Patternmaking and Intermediate Patternmaking I, we invite a model to your class and you learn to make her a perfectly fitting pair of pants! This class continues to teach you about taking measurements and adjusting patterns to create perfectly fitting designs.

Advanced Patternmaking
Course Duration: 25 hours. Prerequisites: Introduction to Sewing, Intermediate Sewing, Advanced Sewing, Beginning Patternmaking, Intermediate Patternmaking I, Intermediate Patternmaking II
Building on the skills you learned in Beginning Patternmaking through Intermediate Patternmaking II, you create two outfits to fit to a live model.
