Heidelberg - Beautiful / Elegant / Historical:

Picture of Learn German in HeidelbergWith its beautiful setting, the harmonious ensemble of the castle, old town and river in the midst of wooded mountains, Heidelberg is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Year after year, millions of tourists travel here from around the world to let themselves be enchanted by Heidelberg’s magic.

With a population of 145,000, the city is located in central Germany, approximately 80km south of Frankfurt, and between Frankfurt and Stuttgart international airports.

It is therefore easily accessible by plane, train, or car, and is sometimes described as being at the heart of Europe. Heidelberg lies in the beautiful Neckar valley, south of the Odenwald mountain chain in southern Hesse, northern Bavaria and northern Baden-Württemberg. This region around Heidelberg is distinguished by its particularly mild climate.

With the oldest university in Germany (founded 1386) the city looks back over an 800-year history. Heidelberg is also known as a city of modern science and a business location of international standing. This concentration of sciences offers unequalled opportunities, and is the basis for a dynamic science-orientated economy, which elevates Heidelberg into being one of Germany’s highest flying economic centres.

Our language school's location is as central as you could hope for - in the bustling centre of the city and the Neckar river area is a mere stone's throw away. The school is at Bismarckplatz, which is in the Altstadt, the old-town.

Student Feedback on our city:

"Heidelberg is so beautiful. You know the song "Ich habe mein Herz in Heidelberg verloren" - I lost my heart in Heidelberg - that's true! Anybody would lose his heart in Heidelberg! There are so many beautiful landscapes, the old town, the old buildings and so many lovely people! Heidelberg is so friendly. People are always keen to help."
- GUO Yu, China

"Heidelberg is a very nice town. Its castle is worth seeing. The cultural activities in the town are a lot. I also visited a lot of museums. The streets are very lively with all those musicians. I like Heidelberg, there is a lot of students here. In the evening it will never get boring. There is also many shops, and there are also many discos with different styles of music.

During the summer one can walk to the mountains, which I also really enjoy. I can affirm that Heidelberg is a very beautiful town. I am happy to learn here."
