Alchimia is a private professional contemporary jewellery school in the historic city of Florence in Northern Italy. We provide academic jewellery design courses at Bachelor's (BFA) degree, Masters (MFA) degree levels, as well as 1-year courses, short-term, intensive programs including evening classes, weekend courses, 2 week to 6 month courses, and summer study options.

Jewellery Training Foundation Course (JTF) - 1-Year Program:
This course is divided into three 14-week modules

This is an intensive one-year program that provides a basic training and high technical skills in contemporary jewelry and jewelry design.

Students learn about the different aspects of the discipline and its diverse fields, and gain a grounding sufficient for deciding a field of specialization in the world of jewellery design.

The course builds on the instruction of traditional techniques and skills to then introduce new technologies, a creative use of resources, originality, and material expression.

Subjects covered include:
Basic techniques of jewellery construction; analysis of form; wax modelling; engraving; jewellery design and rendering; prototyping; gemmology; ergonomics; art history

In addition to the theoretical and practical lessons the program includes lectures and seminars with goldsmiths and designers of international fame and visits to fairs and exhibitions in Italy and Europe.

Students are provided their own workbench for the duration of the academic year. Students have free access to all facilities during school office hours for the entire school year.
