Touch Typing - Lesson 3 - The ZXCVB Row
Touch Typing: Learning to touch-type is one of the most valuable and frequently used skills you'll ever learn.
Lesson 3: You are now well on your way to becoming a touch typist. Your fingers are becoming used to finding the right keys without having to look at the keyboard.
Now you are going to be introduced to the lower row of the keyboard, the Z-X-C-V-B row. Once you have mastered this row, ;you will have learned all the alpha keys on the keyboard, and will be able to touch type every letter in the alphabet. You will also know where the most popular punctuation keys are.
Finger Keys
Left Index - V,B
Left Middle - C
Left Ring - X
Left Little - Z
Right Index - N,M
Right Middle- ,
Right Ring - .
Right Little- /
Before you begin typing, ensure you are sitting in the correct position. You back must be straight and both feet flat on the floor or pedestal. Your wrists are slightly raised and are not resting on your desk.
Now with your fingers on the home keys type the following, using both hands:
Introducing the Left Hand Keys (ZXCVB): axe bronze zen cavity bubba over oxygen oz prized taxi adieux zero ex nazi zygote razz coexist oven jinx boy tux vivace naive bc beirut gizmo cox vcr vote cuba vain exotic xt
Introducing the Right Hand Keys (NM,./): tension nan, mom http// unreal queen inner same an ann am estonia onion none / nun misanthrope annoys, spine mend penny mist my on dam monet s/he http; http; me man
Now type the following sentence: the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Well Done! The above sentence contains every letter in the alphabet.
Repeat each exercise at least three times, when you are confident you know these keys, move on to Lesson 4.
