Salary: CAD $41.42–$59.52 / hour

Job Summary: We are hiring a Relief Part‑time Registered Nurse, Perinatal to join our maternity team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre in Abbotsford, B.C. The position is available until approximately November 2026 or until the return of the incumbent.

Detailed Overview

In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Mission and Values of Fraser Health, and working collaboratively with the inter‑professional care team in the provision of person‑centered care, the Registered Nurse, Perinatal provides direct patient care to child‑bearing patients and their families during the intra‑, post‑partum and high‑risk ante‑partum periods by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care in a perinatal clinical unit.

  • Conducts a comprehensive nursing assessment of the patient and unborn baby on admission and at regular intervals…
  • Collaborates with patients and their families/support persons, physicians and the inter‑professional team…
  • Participates in the care and discharge planning process for patients on admission…
  • Coordinates nursing care and makes referrals…
  • Teaches patients and families/support persons focusing on health promotion…
  • Plans and discusses referral information…
  • Documents assessments, nursing diagnosis, observations, interventions, patient/family responses…
  • Participates in and attends in‑services and other educational programs…

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). One year of recent, related clinical perinatal nursing experience and completion of post‑graduate basic coursework or certification in perinatal nursing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current Basic Rescuer (Level

C) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certificates.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with the inter‑professional team.
  • Ability to teach and instruct patients and families on essential health‑care topics.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to deal with and promote change.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
