    Resource Social Worker -

    Full-Time Position – Abbotsford
    Resources Team (IFJ)

    Salary- $69,.65 to $89,.82 per annum (35 hrs. per week)

    EDO (Earned Day Off) Available: TBD

    Please note that anyone applying for this position maybe subject to the wage growth series within the Indigenous Delegated Social Worker Progression (IDSWP) outlined in the Collective Agreements’ Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) – Appendix B, MOU 22.

    Anyone placed on the IDSWP growth series will not be eligible for the temporary market adjustment until they reach full working level Grid 24, Step 1.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position provides services in a culturally appropriate, holistic manner within the parameters provided by the BC Child, Family and Community Services Act, AOPPSI, and Xyolhemeylh Policy and Procedure Manual.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

    REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Social Work Degree, Child and Youth Care Degree or a Social Services degree.
  • Three years of experience in the human services field is an asset.
  • Must be delegated or willing to attend C6 delegation training in the province of B.C.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in: developing strong working relationships with children, families, Indigenous communities, foster parents, biological parents, and other FVACFSS employees; developing contractual arrangements with clients, caregivers, and other professionals; balancing competing priorities; working under pressure; writing concise reports to various audiences; representing and promoting FVACFSS; and conducting investigations, completing assessments, developing work plans, implementing plans and evaluating intervention success
  • Professional commitment, flexibility, good problem solving and dispute resolution skills
  • Computer literacy on databases, Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer software
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (no restrictions); reliable transportation with adequate vehicle insurance
  • This is an excellent opportunity for fully delegated staff to gain experience on a Multi-Interdisciplinary Team, and develop professionally towards advancing into other career options
  • Criminal Records Check is a requirement.
  • FVACFSS employees are expected to be familiar with and must comply with the expectations of confidentiality as outlined in the Agency’s Human Resources Policy Manual and other policies and operational manuals, AOPSI and the B.C. Child, Family and Community Services Act.

  • Receives requests from social workers for placement of children being brought into care on an emergency or planned basis.
