To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Applications are invited for a Consultant Anaesthetist with Neuro Anaesthesia replacement post based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The post is being advertised with a general interest.

Located in the Northeast of Scotland, Aberdeen is an affluent, friendly and vibrant city, combining all the amenities of a large city with quick, easy access to its beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline.

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has a large Anaesthetic department which covers a comprehensive range of clinical services and caters for well‑structured undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training programmes. The department is also recognised for its expanding research activity and for its support for a wide range of local, regional, and national professional activities.

The medical school, a state‑of‑the‑art clinical skills centre, and several renowned research institutes and centres are also on site which offers a unique opportunity for collaboration and for the development of strong research and teaching interests. The post is being advertised at an exciting time for NHS Grampian with so many recent and planned developments including the Baird Family Hospital and the new National Treatment Centre.

Moreover, with Aberdeen becoming the first Major Trauma Centre in Scotland and the establishment of a new hub for Emergency Medical Retrieval services, there are excellent opportunities for an enthusiastic appointee to develop interests in a wide choice of areas.

The 10 Programmed Activities job description will comprise 8 Direct Clinical Care and 2 Supporting Professional Activities. On call duties will be approximately 1:8 and on a non‑resident basis.
