SSEN Transmission invites applications for the role of Assistant Project Manager based in Aberdeen or Perth, supporting projects in the north‑east of Scotland.

Successful applicants must be based in Aberdeen or Perth and will be required to attend site in Edzell, Angus at least 3 days per week.

Salary: £35,200 – £52,800 + car allowance + performance‑related bonus + a range of other benefits.

Working Pattern: Permanent, Full Time, Flexible – First options available.

About the role: The Onshore Capital Delivery team is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of the East Coast 400kV Overhead Line Upgrade project.

Key responsibilities:

• Help manage a multi‑skilled project team, supporting the successful delivery of transmission projects to cost, quality, and timescales during both development and construction phases.
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to plan, execute, and monitor project activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
• Manage work packages with a focus on value and efficiency, contribute to budget planning, and support the preparation of financial reports.
• Provide input to tender packages and contract specifications, support tender assessments, commercial negotiations, and ongoing contract management.
• Promote a strong safety culture, develop a clear understanding of safety management systems and best practices, and ensure project teams meet SSE’s safety expectations.

Requirements:

• Experience working in a project environment, ideally within construction and/or engineering.
• Familiarity with health and safety requirements, including Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and Health Safety and Environmental Legislation.
• Understanding of NEC3 contract administration and project programming software such as P6.
• Proven experience working collaboratively in teams to achieve goals, demonstrating enthusiasm, strong problem‑solving skills, and a proactive approach to challenges.
• Full current driving licence (required for travel to site).
