Position Title
Environmental Engineer
DepartmentHSE / Sustainability

Job PurposeTo implement, monitor, and maintain environmental management systems for the Hail & Ghasha Project in compliance with ADNOC Codes of Practice (CoP), UAE Federal Regulations, and project-specific Environmental Management Plans (EMP). The role ensures environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and implementation of ADNOC’s sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities (Technical)- Environmental Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with ADNOC Environmental Regulations, COPs & applicable UAE Federal Laws (FEA, EAD).
- Implement project-specific EMP, Waste Management Plan, Spill Response Plan, Air & Noise Monitoring Plans, and Biodiversity Management Plans.
- Verify contractors’ compliance with ADNOC environmental requirements.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct environmental monitoring (air quality, water quality, noise, soil, meteorology) as per Hail & Ghasha environmental commitments.
- Manage waste segregation, waste manifest logs, waste disposal and coordination with approved waste vendors.
- Monitor emissions, flaring, GHG, and pollution sources.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly environmental reports for ADNOC & internal management.
- Maintain Environmental KPIs and dashboards.
- Site Environmental Inspections
- Perform routine site inspections to ensure compliance with waste handling, hazardous materials management, spill prevention & containment, proper storage of chemicals and fuels, and groundwater/soil protection measures.
- Raise corrective actions & non-conformance reports (NCRs) where required.
- Incident & Emergency Response
- Lead environmental incident investigations (spills, contamination, wildlife incidents).
- Participate in emergency drills with Fire & HSE teams.
- Prepare root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action plans.
- Documentation & Permitting
- Prepare and manage EIA documents, environmental risk assessments, waste tracking documentation, ADNOC environmental permits, inspection & audit reports.
- Maintain environmental records as per ADNOC’s document control system.
- Training & Awareness
- Conduct training sessions on spill prevention, waste management, ADNOC environmental requirements, hazardous material handling.
- Promote sustainability initiatives on site.
- Competencies & Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of ADNOC CoP, ADNOC EMS, & UAE environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools, sampling techniques, and laboratory coordination.
- Solid understanding of waste management and vendor coordination, chemical/hazardous material regulations, GHG, emissions & flaring calculations, ecology, biodiversity, and marine protection (offshore environment).
- Ability to conduct audits, inspections, and RCA.
- Strong documentation/report preparation skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science / Chemical Engineering.
- ADNOC HSE-related certifications (advantage):
- H2S/BA
- Environmental Awareness
- Waste Management
- Lead Auditor – ISO 14001 (preferred).
- 7 – 15 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering within Oil & Gas.
- Minimum 3 years experience in ADNOC projects (Onshore/Offshore preferable).
- Experience in environmental monitoring, environmental permits, and implementation of EMPs.
- Experience in construction/mega-projects or EPC environment preferred.
