About the job PIPING ENGINEER
The Piping Engineer will be responsible for performing and reviewing all aspects of piping design and engineering for onshore oil & gas facilities during the Engineering Phase (FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Detail Design). The role involves ensuring that all piping designs meet ADNOC standards, project specifications, and international codes, while coordinating closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develop and review piping design basis, specifications, and material selection reports for onshore oil & gas facilities.
- Perform piping layout design for process units, utilities, and offsite facilities in accordance with project requirements and ADNOC standards.
- Prepare and review piping deliverables such as:
- Piping GA drawings, isometrics, and MTOs
- Line designation tables (LDT) and tie-in schedules
- Piping material specifications (PMS), valve datasheets, and special item datasheets
- Coordinate with Stress Engineers to ensure proper flexibility, support, and routing of critical lines.
- Interface with Process, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines to ensure consistent and clash-free designs.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and engineering documentation related to piping components and equipment.
- Participate in 3D model reviews (SP3D / E3D / Navisworks), HAZOP, and constructability reviews.
- Ensure all piping designs comply with ADNOC Engineering Standards (ADES/AGES) and relevant international codes (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API, ASTM, ISO).
- Provide technical support during FEED, detailed design, and procurement phases.
- Prepare design calculations and technical reports for piping systems as required.
- Ensure design deliverables meet project schedule, quality, and HSE objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in piping design and engineering for onshore oil & gas projects.
- Mandatory ADNOC project experience (minimum one completed FEED or Detailed Design project for ADNOC Onshore / ADNOC Gas).
- Proven experience in Engineering Phase work FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Detail Design (not construction).
- Strong working knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM, and ADNOC standards.
- Proficiency in 3D design and modeling tools such as Smart Plant 3D (SP3D), E3D, and Navisworks.
- Familiarity with pipe stress, material selection, and supporting systems.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
- Immediate availability to join in Abu Dhabi.
- Experience in brownfield modification and tie-in projects.
- Working knowledge of Smart Plant Review, Smart Plant Foundation, or similar 3D/EDMS.
- Understanding of constructability principles and field interface coordination.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and check discipline deliverables.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on design optimization.
