Job Description:
The Specialist, Corrosion/Material Engineer will provide technical expertise in corrosion control, materials selection, and integrity management for oil and gas projects. The role supports engineering design, project development, and asset integrity programs from an office-based environment while coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:Provide technical guidance on corrosion mechanisms, mitigation strategies, and materials selection for offshore facilities and pipelines.
Review and approve design documents, specifications, and data sheets related to materials, coatings, cathodic protection, and corrosion monitoring.
Support FEED, EPC, and brownfield modification projects with corrosion and materials engineering deliverables.
Evaluate corrosion risks and recommend appropriate protection systems, inhibitors, and inspection programs.
Conduct materials compatibility assessments for process fluids, chemicals, and operating environments.
Coordinate with project teams, operations, and vendors to resolve materials/corrosion issues and ensure compliance with industry standards (NACE, ASTM, API, ISO).
Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, technical audits, and integrity assessments.
Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and failure analysis summaries as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
18+ years of experience in corrosion engineering and materials selection within the oil & gas sector, including offshore facilities.
Strong knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, materials degradation, coatings, CP design, and corrosion monitoring technologies.
Familiarity with international standards (NACE, API, ISO, DNV).
Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work independently and provide expert-level technical recommendations.
