We’re seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to oversee and champion a safe and healthy environment across our charter school community in Abu Dhabi. This vital role ensures full compliance with UAE regulatory authorities, safeguarding students, staff, and all school stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Review, develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols aligned with ADEK, ADPHC, and OSHAD-SF frameworks.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of school facilities to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of health and safety concerns and incidents.
- Organise and conduct training sessions for staff, students, and contractors on health and safety practices and emergency procedures.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in health and safety management and implement necessary updates or improvements.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across all school campuses and develop mitigation plans to address identified risks.
- Collaborate with Operations, SLT and department heads to assess the impact of operational activities on health and safety and recommend preventive measures.
- Monitor and analyse incident reports, near misses, and accidents to identify trends and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence.
- Fulfil mandatory reporting, licensing, inspections, and audits with regulatory entities including ADEK, DoH, CDA, and QCC.
- Liaise with ADEK and participate in inspections, inquiries, and compliance audits as required.
- Maintain up-to-date records of all inspections, permits, digital reports, and incident investigations using the ADPHC electronic OSH reporting system.
- Coordinate training for staff and students on hazard awareness, emergency procedures, fire safety, first aid, and personal protection.
- Deliver student education on road safety, evacuation drills, mental health awareness, and health-related behaviors.
- Ensure new staff receive comprehensive safety induction training.
- Support the operation of school-based clinics per DoH licensing requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and consent for administering medication and health interventions.
- Facilitate immunization drives and health screenings as required.
- Maintain confidential medical records in line with company policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety preferred.
- National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certification (mandatory).
- Course on Incident Investigation and Reporting.
- Accredited First Aider and Fire Fighter.
- Knowledge of ADPHC’s electronic OSH reporting system.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in health and safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
