Overview
Cognitive Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates. They are a young, high-tech organization based in Abu Dhabi building mission critical systems. They are looking for Senior Linux System Administrator to join their team. The primary focus of this role will be on server maintenance and automation scripting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux systems administration and be comfortable working with a wide range of technologies.
Roleand responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Linux servers in both virtualized and physical environments, ensuring high availability and performance
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for server provisioning, deployment, and configuration management
- Troubleshoot server and network issues, and perform root cause analysis
- Implement security measures and ensure compliance with security policies and regulations
- Collaborate with development and other teams to ensure smooth deployment of applications
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents as needed
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years’ experience as a Linux System Administrator
- Strong proficiency in shell scripting and Python programming
- Expertise in Linux system administration, including package management, kernel tuning, and network configuration
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware and experience managing virtual machines
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform
- Understanding of microservices architecture and containerization using Docker
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Git Lab
- Knowledge of network design and QoS guarantees
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Passionate about technology and eager to learn new skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work with end-users and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure
The role requires relocation to Abu Dhabi (fully supported by the client).
