I’m hiring a Principal Product Designer for a semi-government organisation in Abu Dhabi that has had a very strong few years of growth.

What makes this role particularly interesting is where it sits. While the organisation operates some large, established government platforms, this role is embedded within a newer product portfolio that sits outside those constraints. It’s far more experimental, product‑led, and open to modern UX thinking – with genuine room to influence how products are shaped, evolved, and scaled.

This is a true principal‑level role
. It’s not about day‑to‑day screen production. Instead, the focus is on design leadership, strategic oversight, and quality across a portfolio of live and near‑launch B2C products. You’ll be reviewing work, setting standards, identifying gaps, and raising the overall UX bar rather than solving individual UI problems in isolation.

You’ll work very closely with the Product Lead
, acting as senior design oversight across the portfolio. There’s an existing team of UI/UX designers in place, and your role is to lead them, challenge thinking, ensure consistency, and make sure design decisions scale properly across multiple products.

The portfolio itself is varied and genuinely interesting – including a data product
, an education platform
, and several other consumer‑facing products. All are B2C, all have real users, and all come with different UX challenges that require thoughtful, contextual decision‑making.

They’re specifically looking for someone with a strong B2C product design background who has worked closely with engineering teams in a proper product environment. This isn’t an agency‑style setup. You’ll need to be comfortable understanding technical constraints, making pragmatic trade‑offs, and thinking about performance, feasibility, and long‑term maintainability.

Design systems are already in place, but there’s real scope to evolve and strengthen them within this area of the business. End‑to‑end product design experience is essential, and while polished visuals help start the conversation,
research, discovery, and decision‑making matter far more here.
