Job Description
The Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Staff Nurse will understand, support, and promote the mission, vision, and values of SSMC; provides age‑appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body.
The Staff Nurse will adhere to and promote the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.
- Assessment and Diagnosis:
Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues; assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs; uses evidence‑based assessment techniques; prioritizes data; documents in compliance with guidelines. - Planning and Outcomes Identification:
Identifies expected outcomes; develops a plan addressing health promotion, restoration and maintenance; involves patient, family, and team; applies evidence‑based practices; modifies plan based on ongoing assessment; documents goals in standardized language. - Implementation and Care Delivery:
Implements care plan in partnership with patient, family, and team; performs treatments and procedures per guidelines; administers medications; documents all components; communicates information across levels; demonstrates cost‑effective resource use. - Health Teaching and Promotion:
Utilizes appropriate teaching strategies; supports patients/families in developing self‑management skills; seeks feedback and evaluation; documents education components. - Evaluation:
Evaluates progress toward outcomes; assesses patient/family understanding; revises diagnoses and plans based on assessment data; involves team; provides comprehensive handover; attends rounds; documents reassessment and rationale for revisions. - Evidence‑based Practice and Research:
Integrates evidence and research into practice; participates in research activities; shares findings; engages in performance improvement projects. - Leadership:
Demonstrates leadership behaviors; promotes positive work environment; coordinates and supervises delegated activities; demonstrates critical thinking; pursues leadership opportunities; participates in shared decision‑making; supervises junior staff; ensures safe and effective care. - Accountabilities:
Applies professional ethics ensuring rights; maintains therapeutic nurse‑patient relationships; advocates for patients; speaks up for safety and quality; discloses incompetent practices; evaluates own practice; considers cost and environmental impact; utilizes resources; communicates risks; demonstrates continuous learning; mentors; oversees emergencies per policy.
Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges/universities after internship).

Qualification:
Bachelor degree in nursing OR Degree in Nursing (minimum two years duration) AND registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia AND valid/current national license AND BLS.

ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty.
