The Trabolsi Research Group at NYU Abu Dhabi utilizes the concepts of molecular/ionic recognition coupled to self-assembly for the fabrication of multi-functional materials.

• The Post-Doc will execute a research project targeted for development of calix[n]arene based covalent organic frameworks for water purification applications.
• Design of novel covalent organic frameworks to contain organic macrocycles such as calix[n]arene and other organic macrocycles, for water purification applications.
• Synthesis of the targeted material using facile reaction conditions.
• Characterization of the materials using advanced techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction, electron diffraction, spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and porosity analysis.
• Application of these materials for water purification purposes.
• Writing of manuscripts, review articles, and grant proposals; training students.
• Work on individualized research projects under the supervision of the faculty during the duration of tenure.
• This position is supervised by Dr. Ali Trabolsi.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensing or Training

• PhD in chemistry.

Preferred Education, Certifications, Licensing or Training

• PhD in chemistry having a research topic related to porous materials.

Required Work and Related Experience

• Experimental research experience (>5 years) in the area of porous framework materials, including synthesis and characterization of porous MOF/COFs.

Preferred Work and Related Experience

• Thorough working experience and understanding of characterization techniques such as PXRD, electron diffraction, gas adsorption for porosity analysis, Schlenk line, glove box, and supercritical CO2 activation.
• Experience in application of COFs for water purification purposes.
