KONG API Developer

Position

KONG API Developer – experience in KONG API Gateway for one of our banking client in Abu Dhabi, UAE

• Design, develop, and deploy APIs using KONG API Gateway.
• Configure and manage KONG plugins for rate limiting, authentication, logging, and other functionalities.
• Integrate KONG API Gateway with microservices and back‑end services.
• Implement security measures such as OAuth, JWT, mutual TLS, and other authentication mechanisms for APIs.
• Monitor API performance and troubleshoot issues related to latency, throughput, and security.
• Work with Dev Ops teams to automate API deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure APIs are optimized for performance, scalability, and security.
• Manage API versioning, documentation, and lifecycle, ensuring backward compatibility where necessary.
• Maintain a strong focus on API security, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational standards.
• Provide technical support and expertise to resolve API‑related issues in development, testing, and production environments.

• Proven experience as a KONG API Developer or in a similar API development role.
• Hands‑on experience with KONG API Gateway, including plugin development and configuration.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and API security.
• Experience with authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, and API key management.
• Strong experience in KONG API Development – MUST.
• Strong experience in KONG API Gateway, including plugin development and configuration – MUST.
