Assistant Finance Manager | Accrington | up to £45,000 | Permanent

The Business

A long-established wholesale business in Accrington is looking for a switched‑on Assistant Finance Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with an understanding of management accounts that’s looking to gain more exposure while supporting the Finance Manager. This is a full-time, office‑based role.

The Role

You will work as part of a small team, assisting the Finance Manager in the production of monthly management accounts for two businesses, one £55m TO and one £4m TO.

Key Responsibilities

• Sending foreign payments to suppliers via the telebanking facility and updating the system as required.
• Managing housekeeping duties for online banking.
• Processing BACS payments to UK suppliers and employee expenses.
• Completing bank reconciliations for both USD and EUR accounts.
• Managing petty cash.
• Preparing and submitting information for the Office for National Statistics.
• Handling online banking tasks, including processing customer receipts.
• Taking telephone payments.
• Processing private mileage claims and employee expenses.
• Dealing with customer enquiries.
• Posting payroll journals.
• Managing fixed assets.
• Posting prepayments.
• Completing various ad hoc duties, including VAT returns and month‑end tasks.

Benefits & Package

• Up to £45,000 dependent on experience
• Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week (9.30am – 5.30pm)
• 29 days holiday inc. bank holidays
• Additional holiday days with length of service

To be considered for this role, you will have had experience in an assistant accountant role as a minimum and be fully AAT Qualified or Part-Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
