Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to act independently and lead programming work for clinical studies or Medical Affairs studies, including exploratory/regionally‑focused work within a development program. You will be globally accountable for all programmed deliverables at the study and submission level in one or more Primary Focus areas, oversee programming vendors, and contribute to functional and departmental infrastructure projects.

Astellas offers a hybrid working solution that allows employees to work from the office and from home. The role requires a blend of home and a minimum of one day per quarter in our local office, with flexibility as needed by business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex tasks ranging from late‑phase clinical trials to worldwide regulatory application submissions, HTA submissions and post‑marketing support.
  • Produce high‑quality, on‑time statistical programming deliverables (datasets, tables, listings, figures).
  • Oversee the efficient use of programming vendors and liaise with leads at offshore full‑service providers.
  • Manage the internal programming team for insourced work and serve as liaison with vendors for outsourced work.
  • Identify and address issues affecting validity or completeness of deliverables.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional improvement initiatives, including SOP development and adoption of statistical software.
  • Collaborate with peers to devise innovative solutions for common programming challenges.
  • Support recruitment, training, professional development, and retention of statistical programming personnel.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
  • Substantial experience in pharmaceutical statistical programming and vendor management.
  • Strong track record as a lead programmer for a drug development program.
  • Proven mentoring and leadership skills.
  • Experience in oncology therapeutic area.
Education
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
