Instrument Maintenance Planner
Location:
Qatar
An established industrial operator is seeking an experienced Instrument Maintenance Planner to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role suits a hands‑on instrumentation professional who understands field maintenance and can translate site requirements into well‑structured maintenance plans. You will play a key role in coordinating maintenance activities, supporting shutdowns, and improving equipment reliability across a live operating environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for instrumentation system
- Develop detailed job plans, work packs, task sequences, and work scopes for field execution
- Prepare material requests, spare parts lists, and tooling requirements in advance of work
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure work readiness
- Review maintenance history and equipment performance to improve planning effectiveness
- Support shutdown, turnaround, and breakdown maintenance planning activities
- Track maintenance progress and provide clear status updates and reports
- Ensure all work complies with site safety rules, permits, and plant standards
- Assist with investigation of recurring instrument failures and reliability issues
- Maintain and update maintenance plans within the site CMMS
- Field instruments including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters
- Control valves, on‑off valves, and valve positioners
- Analysers and sampling systems
- PLC and DCS field instrumentation and I/O support
- Calibration, loop checks, and functional testing
- Instrument air systems and field junction boxes
- Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline
- Typically 5 to 10 years of hands‑on field instrumentation maintenance experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance planning or coordination role is advantageous
- Strong understanding of plant instrumentation, maintenance practices, and safety systems
- Strong maintenance planning and scheduling capability
- Ability to read and interpret P and IDs, loop diagrams, datasheets, and hook‑up drawings
- Practical experience with calibration and fault finding
- Working knowledge of planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6
- Working knowledge of CMMS platforms used in industrial maintenance environments
- Clear communication, coordination, and documentation skills
- Experience with in Oil and Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Power Generation, or Process Industries is preferred
- Experience supporting shutdowns and turnarounds is beneficial
- Knowledge of recognised instrumentation standards and best practices
