As a Mechanical Project Engineer you will deliver innovative and technically challenging mechanical engineering solutions for a diverse portfolio of MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) and Civil works. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop and implement mechanical systems for municipal water and wastewater projects, managing the mechanical aspects of projects from design through to completion.
MainDuties & Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to deliver one or more projects at any one time, embracing a “one team” culture.
- Lead the mechanical design and system integration for water and wastewater treatment projects, overseeing all stages of design, including site surveys, feasibility studies, detailed design, and tender pricing.
- Collaborate closely with civil, process, electrical, ICA and H&S teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall project, providing technical guidance and coordination with internal and external design and project delivery teams.
- Manage the selection and procurement of mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, tanks, pipework) and materials, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations and project specifications.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure their mechanical work aligns with project objectives, timelines and quality standards, meeting contractual requirements and deliverables.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, troubleshoot technical issues and ensure safety and compliance with established standards.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships from project commencement to close‑out, providing technical support, updates and advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement health, safety, quality and environmental procedures in line with Glanua and client‑defined standards, proactively addressing performance, scope, cost or schedule issues.
- Prepare detailed project plans, reports and status updates for clients and stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, risks and mitigation strategies.
- Participate in project review meetings, incorporate lessons learned into future projects and contribute to process improvements across the company.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, mentor junior engineers and promote continuous personal and professional development.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
Chartered Engineer status (or working toward) is preferred. - At least 3 years of proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in the water and wastewater industry, with strong commercial acumen and ability to manage budgets, timelines and resources effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines (civil, electrical, process, etc.) and provide technical and commercial guidance in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of resolving technical issues and managing project changes.
