Qualificationsand Attributes
- Commitment to excellence in Health & Safety in design, complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations and all other relevant H&S legislation.
- In‑depth knowledge of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment, including pumping systems.
- Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and clients.
- Ability to produce clear and concise electrical design deliverables across all design stages of a project.
- Ability to manage design delivery and project manage.
- Leadership skills to manage and motivate individuals to consistently deliver.
- Willingness to contribute to and develop technical knowledge networks.
- Drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
- Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland to support workload.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Design Manager.
- Part of a multi‑disciplined team of engineers responsible for producing design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
- Assist in all aspects of Electrical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
- Production of procurement specifications for Electrical equipment, cable calculations and detailed design construction drawings.
- Project‑manage third‑party designs and provide design assistance to installation and commissioning teams; liaise with clients and subcontractors.
- Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.
- Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to.
- Monitor design delivery performance and efficiency, adjusting and reacting as necessary to ensure targets are achieved and keeping the MIDP up to date.
- Produce Electrical design outputs as required.
- Ensure Glanua’s and the Clients’ Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
- Conduct regular meetings with project delivery teams to allocate resources, monitor the plan and adjust as necessary in consultation with the project delivery teams.
- Monitor and update Design Change Control.
- Liaise between Mechanical and Civil & Structural Designers.
- Be involved in the growth and development of the company, including expansion of the direct delivery model; tasks include the development of business cases for onboarding staff, gap analysis, recruitment and structuring.
- Provide robust leadership and a sounding board for supporting site teams.
- Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff.
- Other duties as required from time to time.
- Chartered or Incorporated member of the IET with extensive experience in water or wastewater, non‑infrastructure, and infrastructure design.
