Doherty Staffing Solutions is hiring Swiss Machinists for a manufacturing company in Alexandria, MN. In this role, you’ll operate and set up CNC equipment, including Haas machining systems and Swiss machines, while helping improve programming, tooling, processes, and product quality. If you’re an experienced machinist who enjoys troubleshooting, precision work, and finding ways to improve production, this job could be a great fit.
WhatYou'll Do as a Swiss Machinist
- Set up, adjust, and operate Swiss machines, CNC equipment, mills, lathes, saws, polishers, and other machining equipment
- Monitor and adjust machine feeds and speeds to improve product yield and reduce production cycle times
- Run multiple machines and processes while performing programming, troubleshooting, and machine setup
- Develop and improve fixturing and tooling for production and engineering needs
- Perform and document quality checks using micrometers, calipers, pins, and other precision measuring equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance and follow required safety procedures, including proper PPE and chemical handling
- Enter accurate production information into logbooks, spreadsheets, work orders, and the ERP system
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Machinist degree, certification, or appropriate machining experience
- Previous Swiss machining experience
- Advanced math skills and the ability to read blueprints and specifications
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, time-management, and communication skills
- Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately complete production documentation
- Ability to stand for 8–12 hours, regularly lift 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
