Lead Product & Packaging Development Engineer
Product Development Engineer
- Our client is a manufacturing business that supplies products to some of the UK's largest infrasturcture projects.
Due to exapnsion, our client is looking to recruit a Lead Product & Packaging Development Engineer.
As a Lead Product Engineer you'll be delivering new product designs and product improvements that meet customer, business, and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead or contribute to major product development projects and multiple smaller initiatives.
* Deliver product designs through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and pre-production stages using stage-gate principles.
* Carry out risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA, design reviews, and verification testing.
* Ensure designs are process-capable, repeatable, and compliant with industry and customer requirements.
* Support packaging development, including materials selection, specifications, supplier engagement, and testing.
* Work closely with manufacturing to optimise production and packaging solutions.
* Provide technical leadership, guidance, and workload coordination for engineers and project team members.
* Facilitate cross-functional communication and structured problem-solving.
* Support project planning, risk management, and prioritisation activities.
Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatable experience
* Previous experience in Development Lead Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
* Proficient in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred).
* Experience with project planning tools and structured problem-solving methods.
* Able to manage projects from inception through to delivery.
* Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
This role is a hybrid role based in Derbyshire - the ability to commute to the Derbyshire office is essential.
