Position: MA/SVQ Assessor/IV Health & Social Care (UHI North, West and Hebrides)

UHI North, West and Hebrides is one of ten academic partners and research centres that make up UHI. This unique partnership allows us to deliver further and higher education programmes at our 19 campuses and centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye and the Outer Hebrides.

To support our work we are recruiting for the following role:

MA/SVQ Assessor/IV Health & Social Care

Salary range. £31,458 per annum, pro‑rata

Duration. Casual as and when required basis

Working hours. Variable hours up to 35 hours per week

Location. Alness, Dornoch or Thurso

Closing Date. 5pm, Sunday 4th January 2026

Position

We are seeking a MA/SVQ Assessor/IV Health & Social Care to be based at our Thurso, Dornoch or Alness campuses.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for achieving the recruitment, retention and outcome targets of candidates on work‑based SVQ Care programmes, liaising with candidates, employers and various College staff/departments to ensure an excellent candidate experience and compliance with health and safety standards, and supporting programme evaluation, enhancement and continuing personal development.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

The suitable candidate will hold a relevant qualification in the subject area – at minimum SVQ Level 3 but ideally at Level 4 (SCQF Level
8) – or have comparable knowledge and experience in the care sector and will ideally hold a valid workplace assessing or verifying qualification, although training can be given.

A level of Gaelic ability would be advantageous to your application.
