Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Practical, you help entrepreneurs make their businesses stronger, more sustainable, and future-proof by combining smart software with specialist knowledge. Practical is a leading firm in the field of Payroll with over 25 years of experience and various multinationals as clients. As a full-service administration and advisory firm, we are affiliated with NOAB and recognised as a tax firm. We are multiple winners of the Yuki Awards (including the Customer Intimacy Award) and are among the best-performing Yuki partners in the Netherlands.

Our payroll team works with Nmbrs, one of the most modern payroll tools, so that you can truly make a difference with smart software.

We work closely with our clients and think proactively about their future, subsequently achieving success together. Every day you encounter new stories: the start-up taking its first steps, the family business that has been growing for generations, or the ambitious scale-up set to conquer the world.

At Practical, you will work in a dynamic environment where collaboration and growth are central to everything we do. You will join an energetic team whose members challenge, support, and inspire one another. You will have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and shape your own career path.

You will have the chance to contribute to a wide range of projects where your knowledge, insights, and ideas make a real difference. Together with a close-knit team of dedicated colleagues, we not only develop smart solutions for our clients but also create a workplace where you feel at home.

The Role

As a Payroll Administrator at Practical, you are an indispensable link for our clients. You ensure that the payroll administration is correct: from payslips and pension schemes to wage tax returns. Because we work extensively for fast-growing companies, scale-ups, and larger organisations in various sectors (such as hospitality and consultancy firms), you will have a diverse client portfolio and plenty of opportunities to broaden your knowledge in practice.

Your role goes beyond numbers alone. You are the point of contact for questions regarding employment conditions, collective labour agreements (CAOs), and personnel files, where you know how to translate complex matters into clear and practical advice.

Together with colleagues from various disciplines, you work on the best solutions for our clients. You think proactively about improving processes and thus contribute to more efficient, future-oriented service delivery. In this versatile role, you combine accuracy with customer focus and receive plenty of room to deepen your knowledge and further develop yourself.

Who are you?
  • You enjoy helping entrepreneurs and their teams, have a proactive attitude, and are curious about how processes can be made smarter and more efficient
  • You have a completed PDL (Payroll Administration) qualification or wish to obtain one
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in payroll administration
  • You have knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and collective labour agreements (CAOs)
  • You work accurately and can handle deadlines well
  • You are customer-oriented and possess strong communication skills.
  • Do you have less experience than stated above but the ambition to grow quickly and develop yourself? Then we invite you to apply, and we will offer you the right guidance and training!
What Do We Offer?
  • Competitive compensation:
An attractive salary and excellent additional benefits, including a pension scheme, bonuses, and profit sharing.
  • Flexible working arrangements:
The possibility to work partly from home, with the option to work from one of our offices in Amsterdam or Utrecht.
  • Professional development:
Access to training, education, and career development opportunities to help you advance in your profession.
  • Supportive team:
You will be part of a professional, collaborative team where enjoyment, mutual support, and personal development are central.
  • International environment:
You will work at a fast-growing international firm that places great importance on innovation, sustainability, and quality.
