Trading Systems Software Engineer

Block Tech is a fast-paced algorithmic trading firm facilitating global cryptocurrency trading while expanding into regulated markets. As we continue to grow rapidly, we are looking for a Software Engineer to join us amid our exciting scale-up phase!

What will you do?

• Design & build:
  Develop new ultra-low latency components in Rust, optimised for speed, scalability, and robustness.

• Optimise & scale:
  Enhance our existing trading infrastructure for maximum performance and reliability.

• Own your work:
  Drive projects from concept to deployment. Your code will directly influence trading performance.

• Collaborate across teams:
  Work closely with traders, quants, and fellow engineers to deliver state-of-the-art trading technology.

• Innovate:
  Experiment with new ideas. Creativity is encouraged and rewarded.

Essential:

• 1+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on systems-level optimisation and awareness of hardware constraints

• Proficiency in Rust (or C/C++ with the willingness to work primarily in Rust)

• Experience with SQL

• Solid understanding of distributed systems

• Strong problem-solving skills and an ownership mindset

Bonus points for:

• Experience with Python

• Familiarity with tools like Grafana, Kafka, and PostgreSQL

• Understanding of Web Sockets, compiler engineering, embedded programming, and/or systems security
