Senior Azure Data Engineer – Risk & Finance | 6-Month Contract | Amsterdam (Hybrid)

We are looking for a Senior Azure Data Engineer to support a strategic migration project for our client in the financial sector. This is a unique opportunity to combine your expertise in data engineering and cloud migration with exposure to risk modelling in a leading banking environment.

Location: Amsterdam (3 days onsite per week required)
Start date: Early October (ASAP availability preferred)
Duration: 6 months (with possible extension)

• Lead the migration of existing AWS-based pipelines (Airflow, S3, Git Lab) into Azure Data Factory.

• Refactor Python code into Databricks notebooks (PySpark).

• Develop secure and efficient data integrations using REST APIs and SQL Server.

• Ensure data quality, traceability, and reproducibility throughout the migration.

• Collaborate closely with Risk Modelling, Data Science, and IT teams.

• Contribute to testing, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

• Proven experience in data engineering and cloud platform migrations.

• Strong hands-on skills with Azure Data Factory, Databricks (PySpark), SQL Server, REST APIs, Git Hub/Git Hub Actions.

• Solid knowledge of Python.

• Familiarity with AWS components (Airflow, S3, Git Lab).

• Prior experience in banking, finance, or risk modelling is a strong advantage.

• Able to work independently, efficiently, and confidently with stakeholders.

• Work on a high-impact project in a dynamic financial environment.

• Collaborate with experts in risk modelling and data science.

• Hybrid setup: 3 days onsite in Amsterdam, 2 days remote.

• Competitive contract day rate.
