Technical ML Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Technical ML Manager to guide Data Scientists and ML Engineers in building Machine Learning and AI models. You lead the discovery, design and development of ML/AI products across multiple product teams. Next to that, you develop best-practices in the team and drive improvements in model quality, speed of development and MLOps maturity. Together, we build towards the Marktplaats of the future!

• Guide Data Scientists and ML Engineers in building ML/AI products, developing their technical skills.
• Validate ML use-cases according to the product and business needs.
• Find and execute on the right approach to materialise these opportunities into business value and operational efficiency.
• Lead the discovery, design and development of ML and AI products.
• Ensure high standards for our ML solutions and code.
• Maintain and develop best practices in the team.
• Drive adoption of state of the art ML and AI tooling.
• Make sure Marktplaats stays up to date in regards to new discoveries around ML and (Gen)
  AI.

• Extensive experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer, with a strong understanding of core data, ML and AI concepts.
• Extensive experience in contributing to and leading the development of ML products, ensuring coding standards and best practices and improving the quality and speed of data science work.
• Extensive experience with a modern data stack, MLOps and maintaining large models in production.
• Experience coaching Data Scientists or ML Engineers on their technical skills.
• Experience in translating product needs to ML and AI use-cases to drive business and customer impact.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
