VP Accounting - Fully Remote | Confidential Search

Genesis Partners is leading a confidential search for a VP Accounting with a high-growth food and beverage CPG brand headquartered in LA. The brand has become one of the most recognized names in its category, with distribution spanning national retail, club, Amazon, food service, and DTC, and is entering a phase of accelerated growth and operational complexity across channels, SKUs, and international markets.

This is a seat with real ownership. The role goes well beyond standard close and reporting. The VP Accounting will serve as the operating backbone of the accounting organization, partnering directly with the CFO on the systems, controls, and infrastructure that have to scale alongside a brand moving from breakout to category leader.

About the Role

The VP Accounting will own the accounting function end to end, with full responsibility for close, consolidation, reporting, and controls. The work sits at the intersection of accounting discipline and operational scale: inventory and COGS accuracy across a co-manufacturing supply chain, trade spend and retailer deductions, multi-channel revenue recognition, and translating clean financials into a foundation the business can grow on.

The brand is moving fast. Accounting is expected to keep pace, anticipate complexity, and bring a builder's instinct to systems, processes, and team design. The right person is equally comfortable owning the close and architecting what the function should look like 18 months from now.

What You Will Own

• Full month-end and quarter-end close across all entities and channels
• Financial reporting, consolidation, and inter-company accounting, including international entities as the brand expands
• Inventory accounting, COGS, and cost of goods controls across co-manufacturers, 3PLs, and ingredient and packaging suppliers
• Trade spend, promotional accruals, deductions, and chargeback management across retail, club, and distributor channels
• Multi-channel revenue recognition spanning wholesale, Amazon, DTC, and food service
• Internal controls design and GAAP compliance
• ERP and systems optimization, Net Suite strongly preferred, as SKU count and channel mix scale
• AP, AR, and general ledger operations
• Audit preparation and external auditor relationships
• Cross-functional partnership with sales, ops, supply chain, and finance leadership on reporting and process improvements
• Process design and automation that scale alongside the business
• Hiring, mentoring, and building out a remote accounting team over time

Who We Are Looking For

An accounting leader with a track record of operating in fast moving, inventory-driven consumer businesses. Strong candidates will bring:

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• CPA required
• Big 4 or national public accounting foundation required
• Direct experience leading full-cycle close in an inventory-based, multi-channel environment
• Hands-on experience with COGS, inventory valuation, and trade spend accounting
• Hands-on ERP and systems experience, Net Suite strongly preferred
• Comfort in build-stage environments where the mandate is improving processes, not maintaining them
• A communicator who translates financials into business context for non-finance partners
• Sharp business judgment paired with operational rigor
• Proven ability to lead and build a team in a fully remote environment

A background in food and beverage, grocery CPG, or omni-channel consumer brands is highly relevant but not a hard requirement. Inventory and COGS fluency, multi-channel revenue depth, systems capability, and operating instinct are the primary filters.

Why This Seat Matters

Accounting here is treated as scaling infrastructure, not a back office function. The VP Accounting will design how the brand reports, controls, and scales across a growing footprint of channels, products, and markets, with direct exposure to the CFO and visibility across the executive team. The leverage on enterprise building is unusually high for a VP Accounting seat.

• Cash compensation up to $235K plus bonus plus meaningful equity participation
