Payroll Clerk

Payroll Clerk Employer: RM of St. Andrews Location: Clandeboye Final date to receive applications: TBD

Under the supervision of the Manager of Finance, this position is responsible for preparing and submitting the bi-weekly payroll for all employees of the RM, the monthly payroll for all of council and the semi-annual payroll for all firefighters, including all necessary reconciliations. This position undertakes other reporting and financial tasks as required as well as assists in all other general customer service requirements.

• Prior payroll experience, knowledge and skills is essential.
• Completion of a Canadian certified payroll program is required, though extensive related experience would also be considered.
• Completion of post-secondary accounting/bookkeeping would be an asset.
• Certificate in Municipal Administration (CMMA) would be a definite asset.
• Some experience working with Collective Agreements would be a definite asset.
• Significant experience with computerized accounting, spreadsheet and preparing documents utilizing a variety of Microsoft Office suite computer programs is required.
• Previous experience in office administration, with some prior experience in a municipal office an asset.
• Experience with Muniware would be a definite asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Financial knowledge and understanding related to payroll and accounts payable.
• Well-developed analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills;
• Effective oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and work effectively in a high volume, at times stressful work environment, often dealing with interruptions.

Job Details: Full-time (35 hours/week) bargaining unit position; salary range of $25.73 – $30.87 per hour based on qualifications and experience ($1.35 per hr. addition for a CMMA designation), with a municipal benefit package after a 6-month probation period.
