Company Accountant

Your new company An established SME operating within the transport and logistics sector is seeking a highly skilled Company Accountant to join their team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and contribute to strategic decision-making. Your new role As the Company Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial operations.

This is a standalone role reporting directly to senior management, requiring a hands-on approach and strong commercial awareness.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Overseeing cash flow management and working capital Managing payroll and statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, etc.) Liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with accounting standards Implementing and maintaining robust financial controls Supporting strategic planning and providing financial insights to management What you'll need to succeed Part Qualified/ QBE or Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent experience Proven experience in a similar role within an SME environment Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of UK accounting standards Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in accounting software and Excel Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong communication and interpersonal skills What you'll get in return Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunity to shape the finance function within a growing business Supportive working environment with direct access to senior leadership
