Our Client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 (L3) IT Technician to join their company in Sunninghill Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, hands‑on experience in advanced IT roles, and the ability to lead and mentor junior staff. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting, system architecture, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Job Requirements
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Equivalent experience: 5–7+ years of hands‑on IT experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Advanced certifications preferred (e.g., CCIE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, PMP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5–7 years in IT, with at least 2–3 years in Tier 2 or advanced technical roles.
    • Proven expertise in a specific domain such as network engineering, cloud architecture, or Dev Ops.
    • Experience leading cross‑functional teams or managing large‑scale IT projects.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    • Advanced troubleshooting, including root cause analysis, performance optimization, and handling escalations from Tier 1/2.
    • Design and implementation of complex infrastructure systems (cloud environments, enterprise networks).
    • Proficiency with tools and platforms such as Wireshark, Splunk, Ansible, Kubernetes, Cisco, AWS, and Azure.
    • Scripting and automation skills (Python, Power Shell, Bash) for workflow efficiency.
    • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, GDPR, or HIPAA (depending on industry).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication, able to convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
    • Leadership abilities, including mentoring junior staff, guiding strategic decisions, and managing vendor relationships.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks under pressure.
Job Duties
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues escalated from Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams.
  • Architect and implement advanced IT systems and infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, update knowledge bases, and produce incident reports.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for critical outages or emergencies.
  • Collaborate with Security, Development, and Compliance teams to resolve cross‑functional issues.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior IT staff.
Salary

R28,000 – R32,000 (depending on experience)
