** Description
* * The Staff Accountant supports Cable East’s telecommunications construction operations by preparing accurate financial information, maintaining general ledger accounts, analyzing project costs, and assisting with financial close and reporting activities. This regular, full-time, exempt individual contributor role withs with the Accounting team and other departments to support timely, reliable reporting and efficient financial operations. The role requires a strong accounting foundation, analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear communication;

construction accounting experience is preferred.

This position reports directly to the Controller and normally works on-site at the Statham, Georgia, office, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on business needs.

** Responsibilities*
* ** General Ledger & Account Reconciliation:
*** Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, posting journal entries and adjustments to reflect accurate transactions.
* Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial accounts regularly, resolving discrepancies.
* Maintain supporting schedules for prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities, ensuring balances are documented and expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
** Financial Reporting & Close:*
* * Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.
* Support month-end and year-end close processes by completing assigned reconciliations, entries, and supporting schedules accurately and on time.
* Analyze financial variances and explain their effect on reported results to management.
** Project Cost & Fixed-Asset Accounting:
*** Analyze project costs and profitability, tracking expenses against budgets.
* Maintain fixed-asset and construction-in-progress records, track supporting documentation, record depreciation, and reconcile related activity.
* Review labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for accurate project and cost-code allocation, coordinating corrections with project managers and accounting staff.
** Tax Support & Accounting Operations****:*
* * Provide documentation to external advisors for corporate tax filings.
* Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
* Perform other duties and projects assigned to support Finance operations and Company goals.

**** Formal Education & Certification:
*** Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience:

*** At least one (1) year of accounting experience; construction industry experience is preferred.
* Proficiency with accounting software (Net Suite, Sage, or similar) is preferred.
* Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
* Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
* Experience using Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, or similar tools to improve reporting, workflow tracking, or billing administration is a plus.
