Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled developer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of front-end applications and back-end databases across ULP’s Windows and Linux environments. This role ensures that all IT solutions are secure, efficient, high quality, and aligned with our strategic application architecture.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance software applications across both front-end and back-end systems.
- Work closely with business analysts and end users to fully understand business requirements.
- Deliver software solutions for new initiatives as well as enhancements to existing applications.
- Ensure all applications adhere to security, compliance, and data protection standards.
- Create and maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Participate in peer reviews for design and code quality.
- Conduct and oversee unit, system, and regression testing.
- Support user acceptance testing and assist with solution deployment.
- Recommend improvements to enhance performance, stability, and maintainability.
- Provide expert-level 3rd line application support, including support for overnight batch processes when required.
- Perform departmental duties as needed, including callout responsibilities.
- Develop a deep understanding of all applications supported by the team and share knowledge to build team resilience.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required.
- Comply with FCA and PRA conduct rules, including Consumer Duty requirements.
- Notify regulators of any relevant regulatory matters that require reporting.

- Ability to work from partial requirements and develop them into complete, robust solutions.
- Experience with both logical and physical solution design.

- Strong data management skills, including data modelling and understanding of database best practices.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities for solving complex technical challenges independently.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions with a practical, balanced approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration within the team.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget.
- Experience with in financial services, preferably life and pensions, desirable.
