Development Engineer Mechanical Integrity

Ansaldo Energia is one of the leading players in the transformation and decarbonisation of power generation. Its turbogas fleet is already capable of burning between 40 and 70 per cent hydrogen, with the aim of reaching 100 per cent by 2030.

Position

Join the Turbine Development department within gas turbine business in Baden, Switzerland and contribute to the continuous improvement of Ansaldo Energia products.

  • Provide mechanical integrity solutions and lifetime predictions of gas turbine blades and vanes
  • Iterate closely with other functional turbine teams like Aerodynamics, Cooling, Design, Manufacturing and Reconditioning to ensure parts meet static and dynamic criteria
  • Issue and check technical reports and prepare design review material
  • Capture lessons learned and ensure the integration of field feedback into the design
  • Support manufacturing process development by providing technical expertise
  • Issue nonconformity resolutions with Quality and design teams
  • Conduct failure analysis and provide technical feedback to field operation findings
  • Issue reconditioning specifications
  • Prepare and support material, part, spin pit and engine tests and validation
Requirements

Your profile

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 5 year’s experience, preferably in high temperature components design
  • Experience in state-of-the-art 3D finite element modelling (ideally ANSYS)
  • Sound knowledge of thermal/structural mechanics, blade dynamics and physics of materials
  • Understanding of gas and steam turbine fundamentals
  • Fluency in English, Italian &/or German language skills are a plus
  • Open-minded, analytical and target-oriented team player able to work in a multicultural environment
  • Creative, thorough and independent with good communication skills
  • Availability to travel 15% of the time, worldwide.
