Quantity Surveyor – Capital Projects
Location:
Bradford, UK
Hours:
45 Hours (Monday – Friday)
Salary:
Up to £50,000
The Role
We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support commercial best practice across Yorkshire Water’s Wastewater Network. You will deliver exceptional customer service, manage commercial and contractual processes, and maximise value for both Lanes Group Ltd and our clients.
Responsibilities- Review commercial processes to ensure they stay relevant and make recommendations for necessary changes.
- Communicate with relevant parties to ensure understanding of project/contract terms.
- Work efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines or other stress factors as they arise.
- Ensure maximum recovery of all contractual entitlements.
- Use performance data to identify opportunities and implement commercial processes to realise contractual entitlements and opportunities.
- Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects.
- Administer contracts/projects assigned, including value and cost control and maintenance of contemporaneous records.
- Accurately value works undertaken and provide records to substantiate cost, allowing prompt issue of applications for payment/invoice in line with contractual timescales.
- Manage change control effectively, including production of early warnings/variations and maximising entitlement.
- Prepare financial statements for projects/contracts assigned, working with operational teams to confirm understanding of financial position, proactively instilling commercial awareness throughout the wider business.
- Support development of individuals within the commercial team.
- Accept extra duties as situations arise.
- Manage subcontract accounts and be able to travel and spend occasional nights away.
- HNC in Quantity Surveying or similar.
- Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in utilities or civil industry desirable.
- Experience in QS role.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Strong knowledge of contracts.
- Strong desire to maintain client relationships whilst not compromising contractual entitlement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
