Job Description

Provide a clean and safe environment for our residents, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness within our Care Homes while complying with Hutchinson Care Homes Policies and Procedures, Health and Safety at Work 1974, and the Control of the Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.

About

The Role Main Duties
  • Comply with Infection Control Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • May be required to work in other homes in the business at short notice to assist with staffing levels.
  • Ensure cleaning of all areas of the home is to the highest standard.
  • Organise deep cleaning duties when required.
  • Complete documentation as and when required.
  • Ensure cleaning and laundry supplies are stored safely and used effectively to minimise wastage.
  • Attend all necessary training.
  • Participate in any other duties detailed by management that may be considered relevant.
  • Report and record any breaks or damages to your Manager or Deputy Manager.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude when carrying out duties and be willing to put in extra effort if an unexpected situation arrives.
  • Promote good housekeeping, in respect of health and safety, and ensure there is no neglect of property, maintaining a well‑maintained area of care.
  • Keep all cleaning store rooms neat and tidy and ensure there is enough stock.
  • Order stock as and when required, keeping in mind costs and budgets.
  • Attend staff meetings as and when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Administration Duties
  • Keep cleaning records up to date and inform Manager/Deputy Manager of any change.
General & Personal Development
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Organised and trustworthy.
  • Pride in your work.
  • Physically fit to carry out cleaning duties.
  • Ability to take instruction.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Clean and tidy appearance.
  • Flexible approach to work, including change of working patterns to suit the Care Home.
Required Criteria
  • At least six months experience working with patients within a Care Home setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning equipment and materials.
Desired Criteria
  • Enthusiastic and professional.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude when carrying out duties and be willing to put in extra effort if an unexpected situation arrives.
